Hawaii is among the states with the smallest number of enrollees annually, ranking next to Alaska and Wyoming. It is so small that the ratio for teachers and students is 1:19.5. But in spite of this, Hawaii is one of the states in the country that has the highest number of graduates. In 2006, 96% of the students graduated high school.
On average, schooling would cost about $8,000 for every student. What do you get from the education system in Hawaii? The records say it all. In 2006, there were 2,200 students who took the ACT and the average score was 21.9, which is higher than the national average which is 21.1. The students scored highest in Math. The downside is that only 95% of Hawaii’s schools adapted the No Child Left Behind policy, which comprises a majority of the 282 schools registered in the state. About 66% of the students go to schools that receive sponsorships for students of low-income families.
